April 23, 2006, was the first day of the rest of my life. On that day, I was received into full communion with the Catholic Church. A great number of my friends describe themselves as "Cradle Catholics", and as I continue to explore and encounter the wonders of this ancient faith, I've been realizing that I see things very differently from many of these friends. Because they've grown up immersed in Catholic theology and tradition, some of the wonder has worn off. It's part of their essential being, but it has ceased to be captivating.
The idea behind this blog is to record my encounters with the wonders of the Catholic faith through the eyes of a convert. I hope to share with people what it's like to approach the Church with adult maturity and intelligence, without losing the wonderment of a child. I believe this adventure has the potential to renew the "joy of our salvation" for many whose eyes are growing dim.
Thank you for joining me in my journey.
